'Rattle & Roll' came from the hard work and commitment of all the women and young women who took part in Herstory Told. They did fantastic work. We believe that by addressing issues that impact on the everyday lives of women Rattle & Roll made a positive difference to the lives of women of all ages across the North East. Following on from Rattle & Roll Open Clasp will be running phase three of Herstory Told from April to November 2010. During this extra phase the groups who were involved in developing characters for Rattle & Roll will be creating and performing short plays/ DVDs to directly raise awareness of issues they have experienced with audiences including schools, community workers and professionals related to services and policy relating to health and social care, sexual exploitation, domestic violence and substance misuse.
2010/11 sees a brand new project, One in Four. The project will use Open Clasp’s familiar format of issue-based drama workshops with community groups who create characters which will be brought together in a brand new performance. Following consultation with community groups and professionals across the region each group involved in the project will consider sexual violence in today’s society. The title One in Four reflects the number of young women and women affected by sexual violence. The new performance will tour in February and March 2011. Watch this space for more details. |
