Wonderful women at HMPYOI Low Newton
We've been collaborating with a group of women in HMPYOI Low Newton since February to enable them to tell their stories and to perform a piece to their fellow inmates. Each week the piece develops and the women continue to create amazingly beautiful and truthful scenes capturing their lives and stories.
Our lovely Patron, Charlie Hardwick, attended rehearsals at Low Newton last Friday and was thrilled with the work the women are creating:
"I am blown away by this group of women. The depiction of the story is gripping. The commitment and passion is palpable. You have created, are creating, a powerful, hard-hitting, inspiring, graceful, elegant, important drama. i feel privileged"
We have a brilliant team working alongside Catrina supporting the women to create this play; Director Laura Lindow, Choreographer Holly Irving, and Actors Cheryl Dixon and Jessica Johnson.
The piece will be developed into a professional theatre production written by Catrina McHugh and directed by Laura Lindow which will tour the male prisons in the North East culminating in public performances at Live Theatre on 7th June.
